Jim Ciesla #9275 - President Elect, October 2018
I was born and raised near Buffalo N.Y. I'm a second generation woodworker and have now been woodworking for more than 45 years. I received my first set of tools from my father (after his passing) at age 9 and spent my younger years with various woodworking projects. After receiving two Mechanical Engineering degrees, I spent my early work years designing batteries for heart pacemakers, high energy density batteries for oil well drilling and then became a computer network architect, along with some side work in photography. In 1987, I moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I have a passion to turn wood into a beautiful form so distinctive it is meant to be a functional work of art. Along with IWCS, I am a member of The American Association of Woodturners, the Gold Coast Turners Organization and the South Florida Woodworking Guild. I live in the city of Lauderhill, Florida, with my wife Sue.
It is with a heavy heart that I resign the position of IWCS President
Elect due to health reasons.
