DESCRIPTION:Click here to download and view the registration form    \nFarmstead Inn Conference Center–Shipshewana\, Indiana \nHosted by Gary Green\, Lynn and Roger Pletcher \nDAILY –  Registered guests of the Farmstead Inn are welcomed to a complimentary hot breakfast from 6 – 10:00 a.m. \nDAILY – Bob Marsh will do one-on-one (or more) demonstrations at his display table. Bob is a master at a number of crafts and his demos are always enjoyed.  \nPlease wear your Badge at ALL TIMES during the Conference Meetings\, activities and Meals \nWEDNESDAY SEPT. 9TH  \nConference Center & Registration opens–8:30 a.m. Set up displays\, silent auction\, craft auction & sawmill location. \nLunch is on your own. 11:30 a.m. List of area restaurants are at the registration desk and in your gift bag. Shopping is available nearby. Check your gift bags for options. \nThe Flea Market across the street is open at 8:00 a.m. The Livestock Auction starts at 11:00 a.m. \nDemonstrations and Tours: \n1:00 – 8:30 p.m. Silent auction. After Bob’s demonstration he will make himself available for hands-on instruction for the rest of the day. \n1:00 – 2:30 p.m. Demonstration by John Ferriera – Embellishing wood turnings\, and other wooden objects like this bowl: \n2:30 – 4:00 p.m. Tour of Dutchman (Fireside) Log Furniture- (Roy Miller). Unique and rare log furniture on display and tour the worksite where the furniture is being created. Carpool – leaving at 2:30 p.m. Meet at the end of the hallway of guest rooms near the parking lot. (Roger Pletcher will be the guide). Address is 5855 W 600 N\, LaGrange\, IN. They manufacture log furniture from Aspen wood from Colorado. Dumpster diving available. The tour continues to their showroom at 7275 W 200 N\, Shipshewana. \n5:00 – 6:15 p.m. Light supper (sandwich\, soup\, dessert\, water) for those pre-registered at the Auction Restaurant across the street from the Farmstead. Walk or drive. Others will have evening meal on their own. \n6:30 – 7:00 p.m. Farmstead Inn Conference Center – Welcome and announcements. \n7:00 Featured guest speaker\, Erin R. McClure-Price is a Forensic Chemist at the USDA Forest Service (USFS) Wood Identification & Screening Center in Ashland\, Oregon\, specializing in forensic science and mass spectrometry. She has worked at the USFS since June 2019\, focusing on wood identification using DART-TOFMS (Direct Analysis in Real Time Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry).  \nFear not\, Erin speaks to many audiences\, domestic and international\, and has promised to make this interactive talk suitable for all audiences. In a nutshell\, the department she works for has developed a process for wood identification of incoming timber shipments in real time as opposed to days or weeks for customs clearance. \nTHURSDAY\, SEPTEMBER 10th \n8:30 – 10:30 a.m. Tour: Teaberry Wood Products Studio/Workshop – unique hand-crafted wood items and basket making. 1450 N 1150W\, Middlebury\, IN. Meet at the end of the Hallway guest rooms\, near the parking lot to carpool. Roger Pletcher\, Tour Guide. Please note that those attending the Teaberry tour will then carpool to the Cherry Pickers tour unless they choose not to participate. \n 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Tour – by Roger Pletcher. Cherry Pickers\, 160 N Morton St.\, Shipshewana. They are in the business of buying antiquities and salvaged items from various buildings. They turn these items into custom accessories for the home. This is also home to the Teaberry on Morton retail store which opened in 2020.  \n9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Silent auction. Jim Dominick & Garry Roux \n9:00 – 10:00 a.m. Lynn Pletcher- Wooden trivet Class \,Craft Room.       \n9:00 – 4:30 Sawmill by Gary Green. Buy logs sawed to your specifications\, lumber at the mill or bring logs to be sawed. Material not sold at the mill will be offered in Saturday’s auction. All proceeds to IWCS. \n11:30 a.m. Lunch (on your own)                            \n1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Wood lathe demonstration by Jack Stumph. Jack will be turning an earring stand.   \n2:00 – 8:30 p.m. Silent auction. Jim Dominick & Garry Roux \n3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Demo on Rope Making class: Roger and Lynn Pltcher\, and Bob Marsh will demonstrate rope making. \n5:15 – 7:00 p.m. Amish Thrashers Supper at Yoder’s Homestyle Cooking\, 10667 W 325 N\nShipshewana\, IN 46565. Carpool will form at the rear parking lot. Pre-paid guests only – all others will be dinner on your own. \n7:00 Meeting and announcements at the Farmstead Conference Center. \n2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Silent auction. Jim Dominick & Garry Roux \nFRIDAY SEPTEMBER 11th \n9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Silent auction. Jim Dominick & Garry Roux \n8:30 – 10:30 a.m. Tour: Wana Wheel- wagon wheels and Miller Carriage Co. LLC –buggy and wagon wheels are crafted. Fascinating process of steam-bending wood\, shop-made spokes and other wheel parts.  Meet at the end of the hallways guest rooms near the parking lot and carpool. (Roger Pletcher will be the Tour Guide) Leaving at 8:30 a.m. ) 2745 N 850 W. Shipshewana. \n9:00 – 11:00 a.m. Workshop – Rough to Ready\, by Eric and Violet Oman. Hands-on demonstration on how to start with a piece of lumber which may be rough-sawn\, twisted\, cupped\, etc.\, and turn it into a flat and straight board ready for use. Also known as building a board. \nLunch is on your own: 11:30 a.m. \n1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Demo by Lynn Pletcher –  Decorating miniature birdhouses. All supplies furnished. Be creative!   \n2:00 – 8:30 p.m. Silent auction. Jim Dominick & Garry Roux \n1:30 – 3:00 Demo by Gary Green\, how to make a functional wooden bucket in your shop. Materials and jigs will be explained with limited demonstrations of the processes. Some hard-to-find materials will be available for a donation. \n4:30 p.m. Group Photo\, location to be announced. \n5:00 p.m. Dinner on your own. \n7:00 p.m. announcements followed by Craft Auction. Farmstead Conference Center. \nSATURDAY SEPTEMBER 12TH \n9:00 a.m. – ? Wood auction\, open to the public. Rear parking lot/tent. There will be no lunch break with bidders breaking for lunch as they wish. Lunch will be on your own.  All bidders must have a bid number. There will be lots of wood from donors of all shapes and sizes plus unsold wood from the mill. \nTOUR:   \n10:30 a.m. Ben’s Soft Pretzels\, 100 Berkshire Dr.\, Shipshewana. Meet at the end of the hallways guest rooms near the parking lot and carpool. Lynn Pletcher will be the guide.  Learn to make your own Pretzel. Learn the history of how the business got started. Stay for lunch – Your own pretzel\, salad\, and a drink at your cost .  You may choose other items as well at your own cost.  \nAfter lunch plan a visit to the new E&S Store just south of Ben’s at 1265 N SR5\, Shipshewana. Discount foods including their made on-site noodles. Many  new offerings. You will be amazed at what they have to offer!  \nAfternoon Judy Chastain will conduct Bingo at the Farmstead meeting area\, \n2:00 – 8:30 p.m. Silent auction.
