In Memoriam Mike Simacek

It’s with sadness I inform you of another member’s passing last year. Mike Simacek ( #806 E) passed away on June 29, 2012. Mike joined IWCS on March 1, 1965. Emeritus was granted November 12, 1995. He listed his interests as wood collecting, wood technology, wood supplier, woodworking projects, woodworking techniques, and teaching. Lois his wife said Mike was a great lover of wood and taught school for over 30 years, teaching his students in woodworking in the Hastings, MN. school system. She also spoke of how good Mike was at identifying wood and his reputation was known statewide.
