IWCS established an Endowment Fund in the late 1980s based on donations to the Society by members over a protracted period. The Fund has grown to a significant sum over the years, however, several years ago the Board placed a hold on granting disbursements from the fund when it became obvious that our annual expenditure was far in excess of our income. There was no clear history of the development of the fund, and the rules and regulations on what could be financed from the fund was confusing.
Consequently, I appointed the Endowment Fund Review Sub Committee (EFRSC) to review the operation of the Fund and report on any legal restrictions applicable to the Fund, and how it may be structured to support the operation of the Society now and into the future. A special thank you to Chris Cook, our Archivist, for his thorough research of past WoW for articles relating to the Endowment Fund.
The Annual Business Meeting of the IWCS will have been held on 25 January 2026 by the time the WoW is published. The minutes from this meeting will be available for members perusal on the website shortly after the meeting is held.
