[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

10 May 2022 Note from Mark Duff: There is a big antique festival in the La Grange and Round Top, Texas area October 25-30th making hotel reservations difficult during those days.   However, I have secured a 10 room block on hold at the Best Western in La Grange for Sunday October 30th through Friday morning November 4th and a 6 room block at the Hampton Inn in La Grange for those same dates.  Make sure to mention you are with the IWCS.  The hold for the Best Western will expire two weeks prior on the 16th of October and the Hampton Inn reservations must be cancelled 24 hours prior to the reservation dates.  The direct number for the Hampton Inn has changed to 979-968-4900.   The Best Western number remains 979-968-6800

Thanks, Mark Duff

IWCS 75th Anniversary Jubilee to be held in La Grange, Texas, U.S.A., October 30-November 4, 2022
Reservations have been made for our 75th Anniversary Jubilee to be held in La Grange, TX, from Sunday afternoon October 30th to Friday morning November 4th at Camp Lonestar in La Grange, Texas. https://camplonestar.org/
Camp Lonestar offers basic accommodations, just a few miles from La Grange out in the countryside on about 65 acres. Unlike a luxury resort, rooms do not have telephones or televisions, but do have individual private bathrooms. Three pre planned hot meals are provided cafeteria style each day. Breakfast is at 8:00 AM, lunch at 12:00 noon and dinner is at 5:30 PM sharp. For those preferring higher-end accommodations, La Grange offers hotels just a few miles away. There are no RV hookups at Camp Lonestar, however, there are two campgrounds just down the road. We have also reserved Koop Hall for our gatherings, demonstrations, auction site and woodcraft setups. It is a very spacious and nice building next to the Johnson Retreat Center where we will be staying and eating. We have secured a particularly good deal. 26 rooms have been reserved on a first come – first served basis. A per person rate of $277.00 for 4 nights and 11 meals or 5 nights and 14 meals for $350.00. The Koop Hall will be rented for $100.00 per day. Details for registration procedure are still being planned.
La Grange area has a lot to offer. There is rich TX history in the area to explore, world-class antiquing and wine/vineyard tours offered. Check www.cityoflg.com and https://roundtop.com. If you are flying in, Houston, San Antonio or Austin are your closest options.
We are planning to have a sawmill on site to provide wood for the auction. We anticipate milling mesquite, pecan, Ashe juniper, eastern red cedar and cedar elm. If we are lucky, we may find some Texas ebony as well.
Several large sawmill and forest tours are being planned. Stay tuned for a more complete agenda as spring progresses this year.

There are only 26 modest rooms available to stay at Camp Lonestar that will be available only for the 4 or 5 night package. Each has a private bathroom, but has no phones or TVs. These will be reserved on a first-come-first-served basis. So early registration is encouraged if you want to stay on-site. Others wishing to participate for only one, two or three days, should book off-site accommodations.
RV camping is not available on site but there are two campgrounds just 3 miles down the road:
– Colorado Landing RV Park – 64 E Bluffview, La Grange, TX 78945-3193 (979) 968-9465
– Suncatcher RV Park – 3033 South US Hwy 77, La Grange, TX https://www.suncatcherrvpark.com/#location 979-968-6868
