Updated agenda for the 75th IWCS Jubilee at La Grange, Texas

Sunday, October 30 – Check in and register at Camp Lonestar’s Koop Activity Center after 2:00 PM, Dinner provided 5:30 PM in Cafeteria. Welcome 7:00 PM Koop Activity Center.

Monday, October 31 – 9:00 AM depart from Koop Activity Center to Columbus for famous tree tour and PM visit at stunning concert hall at Festival Hill in Round Top by Daniel Lewis, Regional Forester with Texas A&M Forest Service. Alternate self-guided day tour to see the famous Painted Churches in Schulenburg.

Tuesday, November 1 – 9:00 AM depart to Berdoll Sawmill tour, by owner Brandon Berdoll. Will take most of the day. Sack lunches provided. 6:30 PM – IWCS Reception at Historic Casino Hall in downtown La Grange for viewing of world-class burl and wood craft collection. Alternate winery or Shiner Brewery day tours are available.

Wednesday, November 2 – Presentations, games, raffles and demonstrations available all day in the Koop Activity Center. So far on deck we have a Tree Identification presentation by Mark Kroeze of the Texas A&M Forest Service, a Hand Carved Dovetail demonstration by Mark Thomas, Turning demonstrations by Dan Keierleber and Kevin Bassett, and a Wood Veneer Lampshade talk. Also, a self-guided downtown La Grange tour is recommended. The Burl exhibit will be open from 10 AM till 4 PM at the Historic Casino Hall. Possible “Lunch and Learn” downtown La Grange with local chef extraordinaire Mike Morphew – reservations required.

Thursday, November 3 – Sawmill demonstration on-site, milling boards for wood auction by Mark Duff and Dan Keierleber. A Fly-Tying by Mike Morphew workshop will be offered. Wood and craft auction all day – Cookie decorating, games, puzzles, bingo – Koop Activity Center. Wrap up.

Friday, November 4 – Breakfast 8:00 AM, breakdown event, depart Camp Lonestar before Noon. There will be several activities for those wishing to take a break from the wood functions. Please check out on-line information about the local vineyards in La Grange and Roundtop area, the Painted Churches of Schulenburg, the Shiner Brewery and sign up on Sunday for a prepared lunch (by reservation only) by world-famous chef Mike Morphew.
