On Saturday June 13, Brenda and I attended the IWCS Central and Great Lakes Region Meeting held at the home of Bob and Patti Dickherber in St. Charles, Missouri.
We had 20 attendees and 4 were board members.
Attending the meeting was: Eric and Violet Oman, Garry and Shelly Roux, Matt and Brianna, John and Deb Ferreira, Terry Luster, Jeff Nasser (new Central Region Trustee), Tim French and his friend Steve White (possible new member), Lloyd and Phyllis Marshall, Francis Field and friend, Jim Robertson,.
We started the morning with donuts and coffee. We set up Show and Tell, plus lined the walls of the garage with auction items that everyone brought. Wood donated included: cherry, hickory, cypress, walnut, ash, sycamore, quarter-sawn oak, granadillo, English walnut, Osage orange, pacific yew, crepe myrtle and elm.
Garry brought 2 lathes with kits to turn pens, letter openers, and ice cream scoops. Eric and Violet brought clipboards and boot jack kits, so that you could sand, finish and assemble. John did a demo using a gun drill on Bob’s lathe, which is in the cleanest workshop I have ever been in (in the basement).
Patti fed us all beef brisket, baked beans, slaw, applesauce and potato salad. We also enjoyed some cookies and cupcakes. After lunch everyone got busy with the crafts.
At 3pm the auction started with Garry as the auctioneer. We had some great donations for the auction and hopefully we made some money for the club. I came home with some curly cherry, an English walnut bowl that John Ferrreira had roughed out, plus a Golden Raintree that Violet donated.
Thanks to Patti and Bob plus all the others’ hard work to put on the meeting. The next meeting is the AGM September 9-12 in Shipshewana Indiana. Hope to see you all there!
