Our program included inspection of a wide range trees on Maryvale Station Morven including, Mulga, Emu Apple, Bowyakka, Poplar Box, Wilga, False Sandalwood, Native Orange and Silver Iron Bark to name a few. Local attractions in Charleville include Royal Flying Doctor Service Base, WW2 American Air Force Base near RFDS Hanger and School of Distance Education (incorporating School of the Air)to name a few.

May 15, 2010 Jasonville Regional Meeting, Wright Township Fire Department, Midland, Indiana on Highway 59 South of Jasonville, Indiana. Registration started at 8 am. Registration fee of $9.50 per person was collected for morning coffee and doughnuts and a delicious country meal prepared and served by the men and women of the Wright Township Fire Department. A sawmill was onsite along with craft and other wood related displays. A wood auction as well as a craft and miscellaneous wood craft auction was held.
March 26-28, 2010 Red Gum, Buloke and Red Wine—Revisited, Naracoorte, South Australia. An interesting three day program. Trips included visits to Alaman where 1500 trees were planted in 1999, Yugilbar, the home of David and Sandra Williamson, Yallum Park, Penola, the Rymill winery, then Mount Gambia and the famous slopes of the Leg of Mutton Lake and of course the beach house of Neville Bonney at Carpenters Rocks and the wood turner/sculptor Kelvin Freer—all in three days.
February 17-21, 2010 Winter Woodfest at Lake Yale, Florida. Hosted by Manley and Elaine Hunt. The Lake Yale Baptist Conference Center located between Leesburg and Eustis Florida has 289 wooded lakeside acres. The facility has Hotel style rooms and an RV park with full hook-ups. The two multipurpose wings of the Maguire Auditorium were used for classes, demonstrations, and meetings. The Auditorium was used for Craft displays, wood specimen/samples, registration desk, and activity area.
October 3-8, 2009 Australasian Regional Annual Meeting, Ravenshoe, Queensland, Australia. Ravenshoe is the highest town in Queensland, situated on the Great Dividing Range some 50 kms inland from the coast. This unique setting affords Ravenshoe an environment which encompasses World Heritage Eucalypt forest to the West.
September 12, 2009 Great Lakes Regional Meeting – was held at the home of Bob and Judy Chastain, 3904 E. SR. 234, Ladoga, Indiana. 47954. Registration began at 8:00 a.m. EST. Demonstrations from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon. Fried chicken was served for lunch and a wood and craft auction took place after the meal.

May 10th 2008 Spring Meeting at Westonbirt, ‘The National Arboretum’, Nr Tetbury, Gloucestershire, England GL8 8QS. The Arboretum is situated on the A433 approximately 3 miles south east of Tetbury. Westonbirt, part of the UK Forestry Commission, is well known to many of our members and the following quote is taken from their website:

Australia Meeting at Neerim on November 14-17 2007. Eugene Dimitriadis and Victorian members organized the meeting at Neerim, Australia. Neerim is just north of Warragul and is located in a beautiful lush green part of Victoria-it’s just beautiful all the time. The theme was “Forests and History of West Gippsland”. Meeting was at the Algie Community Hall. Highlights included a barbeque on Wednesday evening; a variety of outings; a wood auction; and the Gippsland Grand Wood Show on Saturday, including an IWCS exhibit.

IWCS Great Lakes Regional Meeting, October 6, 2007 at the home of Judy and Bob Chastain, Lodoga, Indiana. Activities included: a bird house/bird feeder contest (with prizes), demonstrations, a pie contest, wood ID contest, and craft and wood auction.
IWCS United Kingdom Meeting, October 6, 2007 hosted by Terry and Pauline Sawbridge at Shareshill. Ken Southall gave a talk and demonstration on sharpening edge tools (planes, chisels, scrapers, etc.) and Terry showed how he produces custom-made wooden portholes, now in demand by boatbuilders for enhancing the fibreglass hulls on most new boats.
IWCS Northwest Regional Meeting, September 22, 2007 in Florence, Oregon. The day began at the Davidson Mill site about 10 miles east of Florence where attendees were given a demonstration of making baseball bats on their NCR Lathe. IWCS SE Regional Meeting February 7-11, 2007 started the collectors’ year off with a bang. February 7 through 11, wood fanciers descended on the Lake Yale Convention Center near Eustice, FL, for a round of demonstrations, the wood and craft auctions, and a lot of happy conversation with old friends. It’s safe to say, a good time was had by all.
IWCS Midwest Regional Indiana Meeting Sept 9th 2006 at Jerry and Grace Humphreys’ farm near Rockville, Indiana, was the scene of another successful Indiana “Hoosier” Midwest Regional meeting. Over 95 members and guests enjoyed the Humphreys’ hospitality, the delicious food, and the interesting and educational demonstrations. Rodney Humphreys’ tour around the farm was a special treat. The farm not only grows corm but a large variety of many native tree species as well.
IWCS Toowoomba Australia Woodfest Aug 30-Sept 5, 2006 at the James Byrne Centre, on the crest of the Great Dividing Range (a natural bush setting). Onsite accommodations included twin bedrooms with basin, common bathroom facilities on each floor. From Sept. 6 through Sept. 21, an optional tour by rail and road visited such destinations as the Queensland gem fields, a cattle and sheep station in the outback, and the Great Barrier Reef. The trip included many opportunities to view Australian trees, and even to collect local woods.

IWCS Southeast Regional Meeting March 18, 2006, Saturday, at Fork Union Military Academy in the Middle School Gymnasium. One day local Meet with registration from 8:00-9:00, exhibits and demonstrations from 9:00-12:00, Craft and Wood Auction from 1:30 till finish. The Academy is 17 miles south off of Interstate 64 on Route 15 from the Zion Crossroads exit. Zion Crossroads is about 18 miles east of Charlottesville, VA.

IWCS United Kingdom Branch Autumn 2005 Meeting October 8, 2005 was held at Bodenham Arboretum at Wolverly, Kidderminster, Worcestershire. The arboretum has been awarded National Heritage status and also a Centre of Excellence by the Forestry Authority. Over 2,700 species of trees and shrubs are well labeled and landscaped within 156 acres. U.K.

IWCS NW Regional Meeting September 17-18, 2005 its first Woodfest at the home of Judi and Allan Schwindt at Silver Lake, WA. With space for RVs, motor homes, and campers, we had a very enjoyable weekend. Don Avery, our past Chairman, brought his Wood-Mizer, and Bill Tarleton, (newly elected IWCS Trustee) from Lafayette, CA, brought his equipment designed for quarter-sawing lumber with a chain saw.

IWCS Australia Region Meeting September 10-12, 2004 was held at Daylesford Victoria Caravan Park, Ballan Road, Daylesford in central Victoria, Australia. Daylesford area is in central highlands of Victoria with a history of aborigines, mining and timber-getting. Meeting held in clubrooms of Daylesford Football Club, Victoria Park. Sample treading, auction, evenings of fun, tour of local forests and features.
IWCS Southeast Annual Meeting & Woodfest August 26-29, 2004 was held at Shocco Springs Conference Center near Talledega, Alabama – in the foothills of the southern Appalachian Mountains! Tucked away among the dominant oak and pine trees are motel-like rooms, each with two double beds and private bath, campground with RV hookups, and dining and meeting rooms.
IWCS Northwest Region Summer Meeting July 10, 2004 was held at World Forestry Center’s Magness Memorial Tree Farm near Wilsonville, Oregon. They had a catered lunch, displays and program.
IWCS Great Lakes Region Spring Meeting May 22, 2004 was held at Wright Township Firehouse, Midland, Indiana. Coffee and doughnuts at 8 a.m., noon lunch, woodworking demonstrations, craft and wood auctions.
IWCS United Kingdom Branch Meeting May 8, 2004 was held at Ken and Pauline Southall’s home in Nettlestead, Suffolk, England. Activities included a pen turning demonstration by Ken Southall, segmented-bowl demonstration by Terry Sawbridge, wood exchange, talks between members, and wood-identification contest. They even had 2 California visitors, the Tarletons, who enjoyed their very first IWCS meeting and the Southall’s hospitality for the night.
IWCS NW Regional Spring Meeting April 3, 2004 was held at Grange Hall, Adna, Washington. There was a catered lunch, displays, business session, and auction.

IWCS United Kingdom Branch Meeting October 11th 2003 was held at Ted & Pat Ingle’s home at Radcliffe-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, England. The day was fine and pleasantly warm for early6 October, allowing many members to enjoy the green turkey oak (Quercus laevis) bench-making demonstration organised by Richard W#ilson with the help of Hugh Jenkins.
In addition, there were demonstrations on using the drawknife and some unfamiliar tools. Both Richard & Hugh actively help to preserve Pepper Wood in Worcestershire. Other activities included a talk by Bob Goddard on unfamiliar hardwoods used in antique Chinese furniture, and Ken Southall gave us an excellent demonstration on parquetry techniques; the end result was a chess board made from cherry and walnut veneers, ready for glueing.
